Mw 7.1 Peru-Brazil Border Region

On 24 August 2018 a major earthquake occurred in the Peru-Brazil Border Region at a depth of 651 km. The seismic event occurred at 09:04:08 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 7.1.

This was the second major earthquake that followed on the Venus-Mars-Neptune alignment on the 20th, while the Moon lined up with Mars on the 23rd.
