Mw 7.0 New Britain Region, P.N.G.

On 29 March 2018 a major earthquake occurred in New Britain Region, P.N.G. at a depth of 51 km. The seismic event occurred at 21:25:38 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 7.0.

Critical planetary geometry occurred in the last week of March 2018 with critical alignments on the 25th and also early on the 29th. Strong seismic activity had already occurred on the 25th and 26th as a result.
