Mw 8.6 Eastern Xizang - India border region

On 15 August 1950 a great earthquake occurred in Eastern Xizang-India border region (Assam, Tibet) at a depth of 15 km. The seismic event occurred at 14:09:34 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 8.6. It was preceded by a major earthquake in Argentina.
The estimated primary trigger of this seismic event is a near convergence of two planetary conjunctions on 14-15 August 1950.
Critical planetary and lunar conjunctions converged on 14-15 August 1950, a day after New Moon. The Venus-Mercury-Mars conjunction on the 14th converged with a lunar conjunction involving Jupiter. The Earth-Mercury-Saturn conjunction on the 15th converged with a lunar conjunction involving Saturn. In addition, three right angles and a semi-right angle with Mercury and Venus converged on the 13th.
