M 7.8 Central Turkey

description

On 6 February 2023 two major earthquakes occurred in Central Turkey at the East Anatolia Fault (EAF). The first one had an estimated magnitude 7.8 and struck at 01:17 UTC. The second one occurred slightly to the north at 10:24 UTC with an estimated magnitude 7.5.

Critical planetary and lunar geometry occurred from 3 to 5 February converging with Full Moon. On the 3rd right angle (90°) geometry occurred with the Sun, Venus and Mars, while semi-right angle lunar geometry (45°, 135°) occurred at the same time. Most notably, two planetary conjunctions (0°) occurred on 4 and 5 February involving both Mercury and Venus, hours before Full Moon.
