On 13 September 2025 a major earthquake occurred near the east coast of Kamchatka at a depth of 46 km. The seismic event occurred at 02:37:55 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 7.4.

The estimated primary trigger of this seismic event is a convergence of planetary and lunar geometry on 12-13 September 2025.

A convergence of critical planetary conjunctions occurred on 12-13 September with Sun:Venus-Jupiter (0°) and Mercury:Sun-Earth (0°), involving both Mercury and Venus with the Sun. A lunar occurred on 12 September with Uranus (0°).
