On 28 March 2025 a major earthquake occurred at Myanmar at a depth of 10 km. The seismic event occurred at 06:20:54 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 7.7.

The estimated primary trigger of this seismic event is a near quadruple conjunction from 27 to 31 March 2025.

Significant convergence of planetary conjunctions involving Mercury and Venus occurred on 21 and again on 23 March. This resulted in temporal earthquake clustering, and a magnitude 6.7 earthquake near South Islands, New Zealand on 25 March, following a lunar conjunction with Mars on the 23rd. A near quadruple conjunction involving Earth, Venus, Mercury and Neptune started on 27 March, a day before the earthquake, with an Earth-Venus-Neptune conjunction. The second conjunction, Earth-Mercury-Neptune, occurred early on the 30th and was followed by a major earthquake in Tonga. Quadruple and near quadruple conjunctions alsways involve three distinct conjunctions between the celestial bodies involved. In this case, the third conjunction, Venus-Mercury-Neptune, occurred on the 31st.
