Mw 7.1 Western Xizang

On 7 January 2025 a major earthquake occurred at Western Xizang at a depth of 10 km. The seismic event occurred at 01:05:07 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 7.1.

The estimated primary trigger of this seismic event is a near convergence of critical planetary geometry from 1 to 3 January 2025.

On 1 and 2 January a usual pair of semi-right angle geometry occurred with Mercury, Venus and Neptune. It was followed a day later by a convergence of planetary and lunar geometry, i.e. a right angle with Venus, Mercury and Mars, a planetary conjunction with the Sub, Venus and Uranus and a lunar conjunction with Venus. Two lunar conjunctions followed on 4 and 5 January with Saturn and Neptune respectively. The earthquake occurred about two days after the lunar conjunction with Saturn.

An atmospheric anomaly marked the region on 17 December 2024. No amomalies of significance were detected in the following two weeks.
