Mw 6.3 Northeast of Taiwan

On 18 September 2023 a strong earthquake occurred northeast of Taiwan at a depth of 184 km. The seismic event occurred at 13:21:24 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.3.

The estimated primary trigger of this seismic event is a convergence of planetary and lunar geometry on 16-17 September 2023.

Later on 16 September a planetary conjunction occurred with the Sun, Mercury and Jupiter, which converged with a lunar conjunction with Mars. On 17 September a planetary right angle occurred with Earth involving Venus and Jupiter. It was followed by two planetary semi-right angles with the Sun involving Mercury, Earth and Neptune respectively.
