Mw 6.1 Mariana Islands Region

On 14 August 2023 a strong earthquake occurred at Mariana Islands Region at a depth of 10 km. The seismic event occurred at 13:51:54 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.1.

The estimated primary trigger of this seismic event is a convergence of critical planetary geometry on 13 August 2023.

Early on 13 August a planetary right angle occurred with the Sun, involving Venus and Uranus. It was followed by a planetary conjunction with the Sun, Venus and Earth towards mid-day. A second planetary right angle occurred later on the day, again with the Sun and involving Mercury and Neptune. The earthquake in the Mariana Islands region was part of a clustering of two strong earthquakes that followed on the critical planetary geometry a day earlier.
