Mw 6.0 South of Fiji Islands

On 24 July 2023 a strong earthquake occurred at South of Fiji Islands at a depth of 546 km. The seismic event occurred at 02:49:59 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.0.

The estimated primary trigger of this seismic event is a pair of 90° angles with Mercury, Venus and Uranus on 23 and 24 July 2023.

Two 90° angles with Mercury, Venus and Neptune occurred on 23 and 24 July. Statistically, this geometry has a 75% probability of triggering a Mw ≥ 6.5 earthquake and a 50% probability of triggering a ~Mw 7.5 earthquake. The last three times that this planetary geometry occurred (Sep, Jan, May) were followed by Mw 7.5 to 7.7 earthquakes within one to four days. This time, two strong earthquakes followed, peaking Mw 6.4 on 26 July.
