Mw 6.1 Solomon Islands

On 21 May 2023 a strong earthquake occurred Solomon Islands at a depth of 80 km. The seismic event occurred at 15:45:14 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.1.

The estimated primary trigger of this seismic event is a convergence of critical planetary and lunar geometry on 20-21 May 2023.

Early on 20 May a planetary right angle occurred with Mercury involving Mars and Uranus. It was followed by a critical planetary conjunction with Venus, Mercury and Saturn. On 21 May a planetary right angle occurred with the Sun involving Mercury and Venus. Lunar semi-right angles with Mars and Jupiter converged on 20-21 May within two hours.

Since 17 May the planets Mars and Jupiter were making right angle geometry with Earth, resulting in lunar right angle and semi-right angle geometry within 4 hours. The right angle geometry with Earth was exact on 23 May after which the angle slowely widened.
