Mw 6.1 Solomon Islands

On 27 March 2023 a strong earthquake occurred at the Solomon Islands at a depth of 81 km. The seismic event occurred at 22:19:16 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.1.

The estimated primary trigger of this seismic event is a convergence of two planetary conjunctions with Mercury on 27-28 March 2023.

Two planetary conjunctions occurred with Mercury on 27 and 28 March. The first conjunction was Sun-Mercury-Uranus early on the 27th. The second conjunction was Earth-Mercury-Jupiter early on 28 March. A second strong earthquake occurred several hours later.
