On 17 February 2023 a strong earthquake occurred in Kep. Tanimbar Region, Indonesia at a depth of 10 km. The seismic event occurred at 09:37:31 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.1.
The estimated primary trigger of this seismic event is a convergence of three planetary conjunctions from 14 to 16 February 2023.
From 14 to 16 February 2023 three planetary conjunctions converged. Because of this convergence strong to major seismic activity was anticipated to occur from 16 to 18 February and peak around 17 February. Only a clustering of earthquakes with magnitude ≥ 5.6 occurred instead near the time of the planetary peaks peaking magnitude 6.1. Atmospheric fluctuations near the region were recorded on 13 February 2023.
