On 14 November 2022 a strong earthquake occurred south of Fiji Islands at a depth of 621 km. The seismic event occurred at 05:04:11 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.0.
Critical planetary geometry occurred from 8 to 14 November with six planetary conjunctions, converging in particular on 8-9 November and coinciding with four lunar conjunctions involving the same planets. This was due to a near planetary quadruple conjunction on 8-9 November. Joined by the Moon, it was effectively a planetary-lunar quintuple conjunction, including Full Moon, which was an eclipse. Venus and Mercury both made planetary right angles on 8, 11 and 15 November. The lunar conjunction with Mars on 11 November and the planetary conjunctions Venus-Sun-Mars on 12 November and Mercury-Sun-Mars on 14 November possibly triggered this strong aftershock.
