Mw 6.6 South of Fiji Islands
updated 30 November 2022

On 9 November 2022 a strong earthquake occurred south of Fiji Islands at a depth of 631 km. The seismic event occurred at 10:14:34 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.6. It followed on a strong and major seismic event in the region.

A high lunar peak occurred on 4-5 November and was followed by a planetary conjunction of Venus-Earth-Uranus. On 8-9 November a near quadruple planetary conjunction occurred of Mercury-Sun-Earth-Uranus. Including the Moon it was a near quintuple celestial conjunction of Mercury-Sun-Earth-Moon-Uranus. Lunar conjunctions occurred with the celestial bodies involved in the morning of 8 November from 10:00 to 12:08 UTC, which included a full lunar eclipse. In addition, Mercury and Venus made critical 90° angles, particularly on 8 November with Mars and Saturn.
