Mw 6.4 Off Coast of Central America
updated 30 November 2022

On 16 October 2022 a strong earthquake occurred off the coast of Central America at a depth of 10 km. The seismic event occurred at 12:48:22 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.4.

A lunar peak on 15-16 October converged with critical planetary geometry — a Venus-Mercury-Uranus conjunction — early on the 16th. As a result, larger seismic activity was anticipated to occur on 16-17 October, potentially reaching mid 6 to 7 magnitude.
