Mw 6.2 Central Mid-Atlantic Ridge

On 9 October 2022 a strong earthquake occurred on the Central Mid-Atlantic Ridge at a depth of 10 km. The seismic event occurred at 16:38:09 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.2.

The Venus-Sun-Jupiter conjunction on the 7th was followed by a high lunar peak on the 8th. As a result, increased seismic activity was anticipated to occur around the 9th.
