Mw 6.5 Taiwan
updated 30 November 2022

On 17 September 2022 a strong earthquake occurred in Taiwan at a depth of 10 km. The seismic event occurred at 13:41:20 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.5. It appeared to be a foreshock of a M 6.9 tremor that occurred the next day.

From 11 September to 3 October was considered a critical time-frame because of a long series of critical planetary geometry involving 19 conjunctions. The earthquakes on 17 and 18 September 2022 in Taiwan occurred following a convergence of two planetary conjunctions on the 16th and a lunar conjunction with Mars early on the 17th.
