Mw 6.2 Papua, Indonesia

On 10 September 2022 a strong earthquake occurred in Papua, Indonesia at a depth of 10 km. The seismic event occurred at 00:05:12 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.2.

Strong seismic activity up to around mid 6 magnitude was anticipated due to the lunar peak on 8 September that reached index 15, partially because of the convergence of a geocentric semi-right angle between Jupiter and Saturn and a right angle with Saturn and Uranus. In addition, a convergence of two right angles occurred early on 9 September involving Venus, Mercury and two outer planets. It resulted in a significant seismic increase on 9-10 September with four larger earthquakes peaking magnitude 7.5 in Papua New Guinea Region, a full magnitude higher than anticipated. The full moon in the morning of 10 September may have been an additional factor.
