On 10 September 2022 a major earthquake occurred in Papua New Guinea Region at a depth of 100 km. The seismic event occurred at 23:46:59 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 7.5.
Strong seismic activity up to around mid 6 magnitude was anticipated due to the lunar peak on 8 September that reached index 15, partially because of the convergence of a geocentric semi-right angle between Jupiter and Saturn and a right angle with Saturn and Uranus. In addition, a convergence of two right angles occurred early on 9 September involving Venus, Mercury and two outer planets. It resulted in a significant seismic increase on 9-10 September with four larger earthquakes peaking magnitude 7.5, a full magnitude higher than anticipated. The full moon in the morning of 10 September may have been an additional factor.
Note: As of December 2022, the revised SSGI model shows additional critical planetary geometry, which is visible on the graph as dashed lines. It shows a clustering from 7 to 10 September and in particular a convergence on 9 September.
