On 4 September 2022 a strong earthquake occurred at the Southern East Pacific Rise at a depth of 10 km. The seismic event occurred at 23:57:32 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.1.
The main trigger for the strong tremors on 4 and 5 September was the Earth-Mercury-Jupiter conjunction, but the critical geometry on 28-30 August should be considered as well. Seen from this respect, this earthquake occurred after the second lunar peak. Note the lunar conjunction with Mars a day earlier.
