Mw 6.2 Southern Sumatra, Indonesia

On 23 August 2022 a strong earthquake occurred at Southern Sumatra, Indonesia at a depth of 57 km. The seismic event occurred at 14:31:42 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.2.

Critical planetary geometry occurred on 20-21 August involving two conjunctions, one of which involved Earth. Lunar geometry was relatively critical with index 12 throughout the week. While seismic activity reached magnitude 6.2 on the 23rd, the planetary and lunar geometry involved had the potential to trigger a larger tremor. See also the forecast video below.
