Mw 6.0 Papua New Guinea Region

On 13 August 2022 a strong earthquake occurred in Papua New Guinea Region at a depth of 72 km. The seismic event occurred at 18:57:19 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.0.

Some critical planetary geometry occurred on 12 August with the Mercury-Sun-Uranus conjunction, while Earth was in near conjunction with the Sun and Saturn. Lunar geometry was strong throughout the week peaking index 16 and reached index 20 on the 12th.
