Mw 6.5 Peru-Brazil Border Region
updated 30 November 2022

On 8 June 2022 a strong earthquake occurred at the Peru-Brazil Border Region at a depth of 621 km. The seismic event occurred at 00:55:46 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.5.

Due to a high lunar peak strong seismic activity was anticipated to occur 8-9 June. In addition, the lunar conjunction with Saturn late on 5 June (2.5 days) was likely part of the trigger.
