Mw 6.3 South of Fiji Islands

On 19 March 2022 a strong earthquake occurred South of Fiji Islands at a depth of 20 km. The seismic event occurred at 21:24:21 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.3.

Due to critical lunar geometry on the 17th (peaking index 18) larger seismic activity was anticipated, potentially reaching higher 6 magnitude in the following two days. Earth's right angle with Venus and Uranus earlier on the 19th may have contributed to the strong tremor. See also the Telegram pot below.
