Mw 6.4 Near East Coast of Honshu, Japan

On 16 March 2022 a strong earthquake occurred near the East Coast of Honshu, Japan at a depth of 60 km. The seismic event occurred at 14:34:27 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.4. It was followed 2 minutes later by a major earthquake.

A major earthquake warning was issued on the 11th, primarily due to the Venus-Mercury-Neptune conjunction, which is known to precede major earthquakes (high 7 to 8 magnitude). The Earth-Sun-Neptune conjunction on the 13th played an additional role. In addition, there was a convergence of critical planetary geometry involving Mercury and Venus with outer planets from the 13th to the 15th.
