On 22 February 2022 a strong earthquake occurred in Jujuy, Argentina at a depth of 231 km. The seismic event occurred at 06:12:49 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.0.

The earthquake occurred after a Venus-Mercury-Saturn conjunction (typically fast moving planets against a slow moving outer planet) on the 20th. A day earlier a strong earthquake also occurred in in the Balleny Islands region.
