Mw 6.3 Southeast Indian Ridge

On 4 February 2022 a strong earthquake occurred at the Southeast Indian Ridge at a depth of 10 km. The seismic event occurred at 20:25:09 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.3.

Larger seismic activity was anticipated for 3-4 February, primarily due to the Mercury-Sun-Neptune conjunction on the 2nd in combination with a lunar conjunction with Jupiter later on the same day.
