Mw 6.5 Northern Peru

On 3 February 2022 a strong earthquake occurred in Northern Peru at a depth of 110 km. The seismic event occurred at 15:58:56 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.5.

Larger seismic activity was anticipated for 3-4 February, primarily due to the Mercury-Sun-Neptune conjunction on the 2nd in combination with a lunar conjunction with Jupiter later on the same day.
