Mw 6.0 Kepulauan Talaud, Indonesia

On 22 January 2022 a strong earthquake occurred in Kepulauan Talaud, Indonesia at a depth of 40 km. The seismic event occurred at 02:26:15 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.0.

The earthquake occurred as a result of lunar geometry involving the gas-giants, in particular on the 19th and 20th, which already caused a strong earthquake a day earlier. It was the first of two strong earthquakes within three hours.
