Mw 6.1 Bougainville Region, P.N.G.

On 16 January 2022 a strong earthquake occurred at Bougainville Region, P.N.G. at a depth of 409 km. The seismic event occurred at 12:52:10 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.1.

The earthquake occurred after a high lunar peak on the 15th, which was partially due to a lunar conjunction with Mars.
