On 10 January 2022 a strong earthquake occurred South of Kermdec Islands at a depth of 10 km. The seismic event occurred at 00:06:32 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.2.
The earthquake was the first in a series of strong earthquakes, the strongest of which occurred a day later due to critical planetary geometry in combination with a high lunar peak. The most significant planetary geometry occurred on 8-9 January when Venus aligned with Mercury and Saturn and also with Earth and the Sun.
