Mw 6.7 Mauritius-Reunion Region

On 12 May 2021 a strong earthquake occurred at Mauritius-Reunion Region at a depth of 10 km. The seismic event occurred at 14:05:16 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.7.

The estimated primary trigger of this seismic event is a convergence of right angle geometry with Venus on 12 May 2021.

On 12 May two planetary right angles occurred with Venus. The first right angle with the Sun occurred at 04:58 UTC and involved Venus and Neptune. The second right angle with Venus occurred four hours later and involved Earth and Mars. This geometry occurred less than a day after a lunar conjunction with the Sun (New Moon).
