Mw 7.7 South Sandwich Islands Region
updated 12 August 2021

On 12 August 2021 a major earthquake occurred in the South Sandwich Islands Region at a depth of 63 km. The seismic event occurred at 18:32:53 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 7.7. It was followed three minutes later by a Mw 8.0 earthquake.

A series of critical planetary alignments from 7 to 11 August resulted in major seismic activity at the South Sandwich Islands Region, but also in Mindanao, Philippines (Mw 7.1) a day earlier. This is seismic activity well above average, but it can be expected with a clustering of critical planetary geometry like in the days leading up to these major earthquakes. The earthquake at the South Sandwich Islands occurred a day after the lunar peak that followed on the planetary peaks (alignments). Atmospheric electricity peaks repeatedly pointed to the South Atlantic / South America and Caribbean as early as 7 August. See Telegram posts below.
