Mw 7.3 Banda Sea
updated 9 June 2022

On 24 June 2019 a major earthquake occurred in the Banda Sea at a depth of 214 km. The seismic event occurred at 02:53:40 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 7.3.

The earthquake occurred at the lunar peak that followed on critical planetary geometry that started on 18 June with an Earth-Mercury-Mars alignment, that was followed by two lunar peaks. The next lunar peak occurred early on 24 June following two additional alignments on 21 and 23 June. From 24 June to 14 July three major earthquakes occurred, which is well above average. In this time-period Earth aligned with Mercury and Mars twice. The Nepal earthquake in 2015 is a good example of how critical the Earth-Mercury-Mars alignment can be.
