Mw 6.7 Northwest of Kuril Islands
updated 21 October 2021

On 13 October 2018 a strong earthquake occurred Northwest of Kuril Islands at a depth of 469 km. The seismic event occurred at 11:10:22 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.7.

A convergence of critical planetary geometry involving Mercury occurred on 10 October, including a Mercury-Earth-Uranus alignment. This geometry already caused a major seismic event on the same day. Early on the 12th, a Mercury-Venus-Uranus alignment added to the potential of strong to major seismic activity for 13-14 October.
