Mw 6.9 South of Kermadec Islands

On 10 September 2018 a strong earthquake occurred South of Kermadec Islands at a depth of 110 km. The seismic event occurred at 04:19:00 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.9.

Critical planetary geometry occurred from the 5 to 12 September 2018, which had already resulted in strong to major seismic activity on the 5th and 6th. On the 7th Earth aligned heliocentrically with Neptune which coincided with a lunar peak. On the 8th and into the 9th some critical geometry (PG) preceded a major lunar peak (LG) reaching index 15, partially due to a New Moon, after which the strong earthquake South of Kermadec Islands occurred. Note that during the week Venus was closely aligned with Mars and Neptune and also with Earth and Uranus. Both alignments became exact on the 12th.
