On 31 October 2017 a strong earthquake occurred Southeast of Loyalty Islands at a depth of 25 km. The seismic event occurred at 00:42:12 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.8.
On the 26th Earth was in an alignment with the Sun and Jupiter, which is not an earthquake trigger per-se. If we look at Mercury we see an obvioous convergence of critical geometry on the 28th. Because this geometry does not involve alignments (conjunctions) the geometry is less apparent on the SSGI PG/LG view. However, if we look at the SSGI Totals view, which is the sum of basic critical geometry, we see that something was happening on the 28th. No larger seismic activity occurred, probably because lunar geometry was not too critical.
