On 29 May 2017 a strong earthquake occurred in Sulawesi, Indonesia at a depth of 12 km. The seismic event occurred at 14:35:23 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.6.
The Mars-Earth-Saturn alignment, which is known to cause mid to higher 6 magnitude earthquakes, occurred hours before the earthquake in Sulawesi, Indonesia. The earthquake came early, which is likely due to the fact that the Moon lined up with both planets two days earlier. This earthquake was the first strong tremor (M6+) in almost two weeks.
