Mw 7.4 New Britain Region, P.N.G.

On 5 May 2015 a major earthquake occurred at New Britain Region, P.N.G. at a depth of 40 km. The seismic event occurred at 01:44:05 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 7.4.
The estimated primary trigger of this seismic event is a convergence of critical planetary geometry from 2 to 4 May 2015.
A series of seven planetary conjunctions occurred from 1 to 4 May, six of which were critical (Mars-Sun-Saturn is not considered critical). A tight convergence occurred on 2-3 May due to a quadruple conjunction with Venus, Mercury, the Sun and Neptune. A tight convergence of planetary right angle geometry involving Mercury, the Sun, Mars and Saturn also occurred on the 2nd at the time of the Venus-Mercury-Neptune conjunction. Two planetary conjunctions of the quadruple conjunction occurred on 3-4 May around Full Moon. On 4 May planetary right angle geometry occurred with Mercury and Venus involving Earth.
On 2 May a lunar conjunction with Uranus was followed by lunar semi-right angle geometry involving Saturn and Neptune. Full Moon occurred early on 4 May. A lunar conjunction with Mars occurred early on 5 May just before the earthquake.
Two strong foreshocks occurred on 30 April and 1 May.
