Mw 7.7 Myanmar-China Border Region
updated 6 November 2022

On 6 November 1988 a major earthquake occurred in the Myanmar-China Border Region at a depth of 17.8 km. The seismic event occurred at 13:03:19 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 7.7.

Strong to major seismic activity occurred in the first week of November of 1988 due to an exceptional series of 90° angles involving Venus and to a lesser degree Mercury. No planetary conjunctions occurred at the time. Note that the earthquake in Myanmar-China Border Region occurred after the Moon aligned with Mars.
