Mw 9.2 Southern Alaska
updated 23 October 2022

On 28 March 1964 a great earthquake occurred in Southern Alaska at a depth of 25 km. The seismic event occurred at 03:36:16 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 9.2.

Convergence of critical planetary geometry occurred on 23 and 27-28 March. On the 23rd Earth aligned with Venus and Neptune while Mercury aligned with the Sun and Neptune at the same time. On the 27th Mars aligned with Mercury and Uranus (compare Valdivia, 1960) and also with Venus and Uranus. Early on the 28th Mercury completed the quadruple alignment when it aligned with Venus and Uranus. While Mars was critically involved on the 27th, the Moon aligned with Mars (compare Valdivia, 1960). The earthquake occurred at the near exact time of Full Moon, which may have been a partial contributor.
