On 5 June 1920 a great earthquake occurred near Taiwan at a depth of 20 km. The seismic event occurred at 04:21:35 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 8.2.
Planetary right angles of Mercury occurred on 29 and 30 May and they were followed by a lunar peak on 1 June (the great earthquake occurred at the next lunar peak). On 3 June a Venus-Sun-Mars conjunction occurred, which was one of the catalysts for the seismic event. Very critical was Earth's near conjunction with Saturn and Uranus and the opposing lunar right angles involving both Jovians on 1 and 5 June. In addition, a convergence of five planetary right angles occurred on 3-4 June involving Mercury and Venus.
