On 31 January 1906 a mega-thrust earthquake occurred in Northern Ecuador at a depth of 20km. The seismic event occurred at 15:36:10 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 8.8.
Critical planetary geometry largely converged on 24 January with the conjunctionMercury-Sun-Jupiter and multiple right and semi-right angles with Mercury and Venus. It coincided with two lunar conjunctions, one of which was New Moon. On 28 January the critical planetary conjunction Mercury-Venus-Saturn coincided with a lunar conjunction involving Mars. Most critical were the opposing lunar right angles with Uranus and Neptune that came on top of planetary right and semi-right angles with Mercury and Venus.
