On 13 August 1868 a mega-thrust earthquake occurred at Arica, Chile (then Peru). The seismic event occurred at 21:30 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) between 8.5 and 9.3.
The earthquake was triggered primarily due to a convergence of critical planetary geometry around 11 August. On 11-12 August two planetary conjunctions involving the Sun, Mercury, Mars and Saturn occurred, while planetary right angles of Venus with the Sun and Saturn and with Earth and Neptune occurred on 11 August. In addition, semi-right angles of the Sun with Mercury, Uranus and Neptune converged on 11-12 August while lunar semi-right angles also occurred on 12 August with both outer planets. High
