Mw 8.8 Arakan
updated 5 May 2022

On 2 April 1762 a great earthquake occurred at Arakan. The seismic event occurred around 11:00 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 8.5 to 8.8.

From 26 March to 4 April 1762 no less than 17 planetary alignments occurred due to a rare grouping of the first 7 planets (only Neptune was not part of it). In particular on 29 March when six alignments occurred great electromagnetic charge was generated forcing the fault section under maximum stress to rupture. Note that on 29 March 1762 Venus aligned with all three Jovians involved. A considerable seismic increase probably occurred around the planet near the time of the critical planetary geometry with earthquakes potentially ranging from low 6 to 7 magnitude. Counting from 26 March three lunar peaks occurred, the third one of which was on 2 April when the earthquake occurred. This final lunar peak was formed by five 90° angles with the Moon, three of which involved Jovian planets.
