Mw 9.0 Portugal
updated 13 November 2022 UTC

On 1 November 1755 a great earthquake occurred offshore Lisbon, Portugal. The seismic event occurred at 09:40 local time and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) between 8.5 and 9.0.

Critical planetary geometry occurred from 26 to 31 October, in particular a convergence of two planetary conjunctions on 28 October. In addition, five planetary right angles of Mercury and Venus occurred from 25 October to 1 November, four of which converged around 31 October.
