Mw 9.2 Offshore Valparaiso, Chile
updated 15 November 2022

On 8 July 1730 a great earthquake occurred offshore Valparaiso, Chile. The seismic event occurred at 8:45 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 9.2 (±0.2).

On 4 July the critical planetary conjunction Mercury-Venus-Jupiter occurred, followed by a lunar peak that was partially due to the lunar conjunction with Saturn. On 6-7 July critical planetary right angles ocurred with Mercury and Venus, most notably Mercury:Venus-Mars. Hours later, a lunar conjunction, also with Mars occurred. The earthquake occurred during the planetary conjunction Venus-Sun-Saturn.
