Mw 8.0 Eastern Mediterranean Sea

On 8 August 1303 a great earthquake occurred in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. The seismic event had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 8.0.

The estimated primary trigger of this seismic event is a series of four critical planetary conjunctions from 2 to 6 August 1303.

On 2 August 1303 a planetary conjunction Mercury-Venus-Neptune occurred, which is associated with major earthquakes (examples 2018, 2019). It was followed by a near quadruple conjunction with Earth, the Sun, Mercury and Jupiter, resulting in three planetary conjunctions from 3 to 6 August. From 2 to 5 August four lunar conjunctions occurred with the outer planets Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Mars.
